Cherokee Hills is an established neighborhood with mature trees in central Overland Park. Located between Switzer Road to the west, Lowell Avenue to the east, 91st Street to the north, and 95th Street to the south, this community provides quick access to local I-69 Highway, I-35 Highway, and I-435 Highway, making it easy to go anywhere you’d like.

This neighborhood began with just a few homes being built in 1955 on the southeastern edge of the community. Over the next 25 years, the subdivision expanded west, meandering around and growing to around 650+ homes until the community was completed. 

These homes are 2 to 5 bedroom single-family residences, with a basement, and averaging almost 2,000 finished square feet of living space. Most homes have 1 to 2 car attached garages and private, fenced yards.

Across the street to the south is Cherokee South Plaza and to the east is Metcalf South shopping center, which is currently being upgraded and expanded to bring in a new Lifetime Fitness Center and an additional 135,000 square feet of retail space.

Outdoor recreation isn’t far if you live in Cherokee Hills. On one side of the community is Cherokee Park, a 3.5 acre park that provides a basketball court, playground, swings, and picnic tables. On the other side of the neighborhood is Strang Park, named for William B. Strang who founded Overland Park in 1905. This 11 acre park provides a shelter with picnic tables, basketball court, loop trail, and a newer inclusive playground that kids love and is really a sight to see! At the center border of Cherokee Hills is Stonegate Park, a 2.3 acre park with playground, courts, concession stand, and an enormous pool with slide that is accessible for a small fee.
